Shaswar Abdulwahid, the leader of the New Generation Movement, has announced that the KRG authorities have not held any elections and that there has been no budget law for more than ten years. He also stated that freedom of expression and democracy are in retreat, and that militias are the only authority that has weakened institutions.

Abdulwahid believes that it is necessary to take steps towards the international community at the right time, to not tolerate corruption, and to avoid making the situation worse, as this will only result in people becoming weaker and more hopeless, ultimately leading to mass migration.
